A Life Dedicated to the Dissemination of Law

The Center for Global Studies organizes it as a Special Event program in November. The guest of our meeting will be Muharrem Balcı. We will have an interview with Muharrem Balcı within the framework of the book "A Life Dedicated to the Dissemination of Law: Muharrem Balcı" published about him. The meeting with Balcı will start on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 16.00 in the Vefa Hall.
Muharrem Balcı was born in Istanbul in 1952. He completed his primary and secondary education in Sarıyer and his high school education in İstanbul Sarıyer High School. After graduating from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1977, he started his legal internship and in February 1979 he started his legal profession. He is still working as a freelance lawyer. He is married, has four children and 7 grandchildren. Hunting. Muharrem Balcı is a founding member of many non-governmental organizations, in addition to his de facto attorneyship and legal studies, and actively participates in the work of these organizations. Among them, Lawyers Association (HD), Association for Solidarity with the Oppressed, MAZLUMDER Founding Memberships, Consumers Union (TB) Honorary Board, Patient Rights Activists Association and Health and Food Safety Movement's founding member and Honorary Board, Research Culture Foundation ( AKV) Founding Member, 69th Term (2010 - 2012) Turkey Green Crescent Society General Presidency, Boundless Brotherhood and Solidarity Association (KIYADER) and World Orphans Education Foundation Founding Member, and he is also an honorary Legal Advisor to many non-governmental organizations. He is the President of the LAW FOUNDATION, which he founded in September 2014 with his Lawyer Friends and Students. In Istanbul for 23 years (1998), without interruption/holiday, in Ankara since 2008, in Skopje since 2011, in Gaziantep since 2014, in Konya since 2016 and in November 2017. He has been carrying out the work of the YOUNG LAWYERS LAW READINGS GROUP in Adana, Kayseri and Bursa since 2018, and he is the editor of BIRIKIMLER (2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2016) where these studies are collected. In addition to numerous articles, he has published books, research reports, papers and conferences. He simplified Mecelle, Tanzimat and Islahat Fermans for the first time and presented it to young lawyers.
