The second speaker of the Tezgahtakiler meeting series in November organized by the Civilization Research Center will be Dr. Bilal Baş. Baş will discuss the process of building the monasteries as well as institutionalization of ascetic practices by the first Christian monks in Egyptian desert. He will also discuss in what ways the ascetic lifestyle practiced in the monasteries was influenced from the Bible, the Jewish tradition, and the Hellenistic heritage.

- The Center for Global Studies organizes the second meeting of 2023 as a Book-Article. We will discuss the issue of "tajdid" with our teacher Özgür Kavak and the issue of "political tajdid" in the context of political pursuits in the last period of the Ottoman Empire.
