Istanbul: The City and Civilization

Organized on the 550th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul by the Center for Turkish Studies, the national "City and Civilization" conference discussed the themes of "Conquest/Openning", "The City" and "Civilization" on June 6-8, 2003) .
Such leading scholars and intellectuals from Turkey as Turgut Cansever, Saadettin Ökten, Mehmet İpşirli, Ahmet Davutoğlu and Beşir Ayvazoğlu talked about 550 years of Istanbul's "openning", on the one hand, and its future, on the other. Centering around the main theme of "Istanbul from 1453 to 2053", the three day conference was a nostalgic, historical, and intellectual journey for its participants.
SEMINARS
As the most traditonal activity of BISAV, the courses take place in every fall and spring of a year.
