Center for Art Studies and Center for Turkish Cinema Research are going to host American cinema theorist Dudley Andrew on May, 11th, Saturday at 11.00 a.m. Andrew taught comparative literature and film studies at the University of Iowa for many years, and has been working at Yale University since 2000. Author’s book “What Cinema is!: Bazin's Quest and Its Charge” that translated last month into Turkish by Küre Publications. This book is also the subject of his doctoral thesis and was written after Andre Bazin's seminars on cinema. The book examines the institutions and social impact of cinema through key films and witnesses the “essence” power of an art based on 1895.
